New Delhi must be concerned about the BNP's victory in Bangladesh, as during the party's rule, relations between the two were at their most strained, according to the source. BNP leadership also believes that Hasina's presence is a major obstacle to the normalisation of relations between the two countries and calls for her return to Bangladesh. The government intends to continue and complete the connectivity program, which links Assam, Meghalaya, and Tripura and connects Silhat to Dhaka, the source says. This network project is primarily undertaken by Adani, with portions undertaken by L&T and Ercon, the source reports.  However, India must recalibrate and keep the option open to engage with Dhaka in a manner that allows it to impose caution if the new regime does not heed India's strategic and security interests.
