Rahul Gandhi At Crossroad After Bihar Defeat?

It has become customary to review the party's performance in an election. Similarly, after a humiliating defeat of the Mahagathbandhan in the Bihar assembly elections, the senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called a meeting of four-five firebrand young leaders of the party. Gogoi, Pilot, Dinesh Gundu Rao and some leaders from Delhi participated source says.

In the meeting, Rahul Gandhi said he was hopeful that by 26-27, Modi would leave the leadership and the PM’s office, but now feels that the party is to prepare itself to contest directly with Modi in 2029 and 2034 also source says. The present leaders did not agree and after a great deal of discussion it came out that this idea was fed into the mind of the leader by Yogendr Yadav and Anil Jaisingh as they feel that the present condition of Congress is not strong enough on the ground to defeat the BJP in the coming days and should wait for the 2034 elections at least.

Jaisingh is the president of the All India OBC Congress and considers himself a disciple of Sharad Yadav source says. Immediately the present leaders understood why Rahul Gandhi always talked about OBC in almost all meetings of Bihar and totally ignored other communities source says. One present senior leader from Delhi raised objections on the party line and said that previously the name of Gandhi was enough to increase at least 10% votes but it's not now, more over now party leaders are not listening to the senior leaders and are busy in their personal gain ignoring the party affairs, party leaders are slowly going out from the party and even Gandhi family is not able to peruse them to remain in the party source says. Reference to not following the committed words also hampering the party prospects, special mention of Singhdeo of Chhattisgarh was given source says.

Singhdeo was promised to allow him to take over as CM after two and a half years but later it was not followed which has resulted in great loss of party in the state elections source says. The case of D Shivkumar of Karnataka also figured in the meeting. All these betrayals are forcing party leaders not to believe the directions and commitments of senior leaders also raised by a leader source says. Party leaders felt that the party must not now follow the path of the Communists and adopt a central balanced path source says.
