Despite all assurances and efforts, the CM of Karnataka is not ready to vacate the chair for anyone else, due to the popularity and support he garners among elected MLAs source says. Even the high command is not comfortable with his resignation, fearing a backlash from the party's loyalists, a source says. D Shivkumar is trying very hard to get the chair of CM but the political compulsions of the party do not allow to shift the incumbent else source says. Perturbed with the failure of all his moves seems D Shivkumar started thinking to shift his loyalty probably source says. The BJP knows that in Karnataka, D Shivkumar is the only road block of its comeback to power.
Just after getting the smell of his perturbations, the BJP roped in Jagan Reddy, the ex-CM of Andhra Pradesh to open a channel of discussions with him source says. It's understood that Jagan Reddy succeeded in convincing him that the Congress is only using him and would not give him his due despite all services rendered by him to the party source says. It's in the corridor that the major part of the expenditure incurred in the Bihar elections was met by him only source says. Jagan Reddy is facing lots of corruption charges and to avoid going to jail probably working for the BJP from a backdoor source says. Later two meetings with senior leaders took place separately with Shivkumar and the last was with the organizing secretary of the party source says. In one meeting one senior leader did not even discussed any thing related to politics but only family matters and conveyed that the BJP is above politics and always stands by the party's people, according to a source.
In the final meeting with a very senior leader of the BJP, Shivkumar was offered that in the event of his joining the party, he will be given a plum central ministry and his brother, D Suresh, who has lost twice in the parliamentary elections will be given deputy chief ministership in the state source says. The well-oiled channel of discussions and pursuits probably dented his confidence but he has so far not taken any decisive steps so far and in the last meeting has asked for some time to think before deciding decisively source says.
