The present CM, Nitish Kumar, has submitted his resignation as an MLC after being elected to the Rajya Sabha, but has not submitted his resignation as CM of Bihar. Though the BJP is sure to form its government with a CM from the BJP, this will only be possible when the CM chair is vacated by Susanan Babu, sources say. The BJP central leadership is happy with the outcome but unsure that, without Nitish Kumar's consent, the party would be able to nominate the CM in the state, a source says. This has become clear when the central leadership of the BJP conveyed to Samrat Chaudhary to prepare himself for swearing in but before the final decision, the objection forwarded by the Nitish Kumar group delayed the decision, the source says.
The central leadership has been conveyed clearly by Nitish Kumar that the selection of CM should be with his consent, the speaker must be from JD(U) and the home department must be with the JD(U), the source says. It's learnt that the BJP leadership has agreed to some points especially that the successor of Nitish Kumar must have very clean image though tried to convince that Samrat Chaudhary belongs to the ‘Koiri’ caste and the population of this caste has a good influence in UP and Jharkhand and in the coming state elections his presence as the CM likely to help in consoloditating votes in favour of the party source says. On the other hand, the JD(U) supporters are trying to project Nishant Kumar as a successor who has a very good personal rapport with Samrat Chaudhary. The deputy CM of Bihar is considered the only leader presently to counter the aggressive actions of the RJD by the BJP leadership, but the question of succession is intertwined with many factors, and it's not easy for the BJP leadership to initiate actions, one source says.
