Food Politics In Centre of Bengal Campaign?

The first phase of voting in West Bengal is over, but for the first time, voters' food habits remained in focus throughout the campaign. Mamta Didi started saying that the BJP after coming to power would force the voters to adopt vegetarian food, and that the most loving food fish would be removed from the food plate, according to a source. 

It's known that fish is the most favored fish among West Bengal people, a source says. To counter this, the senior leaders of the BJP organised a Padyatra with hanging fish around their necks to show that they are also fish eaters and that the fish would not vanish from the plate, according to a source. The importance of convincing the voters was so intense that the campaigning of the first phase ended with a grand party featuring all Bengali dishes, especially Rohu fish cooked with mustard, a most favored dish of all West Bengal people, according to the source. Anurag Thakur and other senior leaders were shown prominently eating fish and other food at the party, the source says. On the other hand, PM’s eating Jhal mudi at the roadside and paying 10 rupees from his pocket is also widely covered by the media. However, some people were heard saying that, due to security reasons, no one is allowed to remain in the area around the shops and roads are kept closed to the general public. Then how was that Jhal Mudi shop allowed to remain in the vicinity, the source says.
