For the first time in the country, the voting percentage has gone to 92% after SIR. The BJP is very happy that this is going in its favour more so because the areas where voting was completed in the first phase were generally Hindu-dominated and in 2021 the BJP bagged 61 seats out of the total 77 seats bagged in the state  but this time, the party expects to win a minimum of 85-90 seats out of 152 that went for voting, the source says.

The TMC is also claiming to do better and must improve the tally, the source says. In the second phase on 142 seats, the people are to elect their representatives, the source says. In 2021, the BJP won 16 seats out of 142 and as claimed by the BJP, it will do much better this time, if for example consider that the BJP will double its performance and secures 35 seats or so even after these claimed performances the tally would reach to 125 seats in the Assembly of 294 seats. In 2021 the tally of the TMC was 213 and giving all claimed seats to the BJP the seats to be won by the TMC would be around 175-180, more than the seats required to form the government, the source says. It will be a miracle, if the BJP gets a majority given the claims by the party unless all the calculations of the BJP go wrong and the party gets sufficient seats in all the areas to form the government, a source says.
