It was almost decided to form a coalition to contest state elections and the central leadership of the BJP met Sukhbir Singh Badal and his wife separately to discuss the important points but after getting an internal secret report from IB and a committee constituted under Sirsa, minister in the Delhi government, the party is in a double mind, the source says. The report says that the BJP's core voters vote for the Akali Dal in the absence of a BJP candidate but the Akali core voters prefer to go with Congress or AAP instead of the BJP in the absence of the Akali candidate, according to the source.

This happens only because the BJP still does not have a strong leadership in the party and a proper transfer does not happen, the source says. Probably because of this reason the BJP is planning to concentrate on the ‘ Purbia’ voters as was done in Haryana, the source says. The prevalence of Purbia voters is in the sector of Ludhians, Chandigarh and Jalandhar and if this works at least 50 to 60 seats are likely to get effected, the source says. Under these circumstances, the BJP in the post-election alliances forms a government with the Akali Dal and claims the CM seat on a sharing basis for two and a two-and-a-half-year basis, a source says.
