It's now almost certain that the BJP wants to remain the second partner in the coalition rather than campaign aggressively for its own sake, says the source. A one-time very popular figure and considered a CM face of the future from the BJP, Annamalai is likely to be denied a ticket and, more so, likely to be put out of the campaign, the party sources say. Everyone knows how much hard work he has done to bring the party to the present stage in the state as the state chief, but perhaps on advice from AIADMK, he has been totally sidelined, a source says. When Annamalai was in power in the party, he troubled the leadership of the AIADMK a lot, and probably the present situation is a revenge, says a source.  The coalition is not very effective and lacks aggressive campaigning, which ultimately gives the DMK and Congress coalitions an edge, a source says. It's also visible on the ground that both parties are not functioning in coordination, but the challenge is also weak, says the source.
